4 Ways to make your weekend more productive

April 24, 2013 · 0 comments

Weekends are precious things. We work hard all week with the intention of making the absolute most of Saturday and Sunday. However, when the weekend arrives, it tends to fly by and fail to live up to our expectations. With this in mind, it’s worth paying heed to the following tips aim to help rejuvenate your weekend and leave you feeling refreshed and satisfied by the time Monday arrives.

1)      Think ahead

Wake up Sunday morning and dedicate a small amount of time reading through your work calendar and planning for the week ahead. This may not sound like the most fun, but by preparing yourself for Monday morning it will give you the best possible start for a productive week. If you manage a team of people, then your preparation will help give them direction from Monday to Friday.

2)      Make some extra money

Why not use the weekend as an opportunity to make a little extra cash? A great way of doing this is by selling unwanted household items online in exchange for money. Websites like MusicMagpie allow you to sell items online from the comfort of your own home. If you have unwanted electrical items such as CDs, DVDs or video games that you wish to sell, simply enter the barcode into their valuation engine and you’ll be told how much it’s worth. It really couldn’t be any easier.

3)      Make a list of goals

Use the weekend to make a list of goals you want to achieve. Have you recently bought a musical instrument and haven’t had time to practice? Perhaps you’ve always wanted to learn a new language, but haven’t committed to joining a weekend language class? Another option is to go on Facebook or Twitter  and see if any of your friends know of any part-time language or musical lessons they can recommend. Take this opportunity not to waste the weekend by making a clear list of things you want to accomplish this year.

4)      Sleep well on Friday night

After a hard week in the office many of us look at Friday with glee. But a heavy Friday night can leave us feeling tired the following day and set the tone for an unproductive weekend. If you get a good night’s rest on Friday night, you’re giving yourself the best chance of making the most of your Saturday. If you desperately have to go out on the Friday evening, try something more relaxing like going to the theatre or enjoying a nice meal.

Hopefully you found these four tips helpful – and here’s to a more productive weekend.
